RATES

“ Please be advised that effective October 1, 2024 the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS)  has set the recommended fee for psychological services provided by psychologists registered with the  Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology at $225 per hour.  

APNS does not regulate the rate charged by psychologists; however, this figure is offered as a general guideline to assist individual psychologists in representing themselves to their clients indicating the level of fees that they may be expected to charge.  

This guideline is also intended for third-party payers that contract for psychological services, as well as insurers, government policy makers, and large businesses, so they may be aware of the rates being charged by psychologists, and may make informed decisions when adjusting their reimbursement rates for psychological services.”

Individual Therapy

Therapy with a Psychologist is $225 per hour.
Therapy with a Registered Counselling Therapist is $190 per hour.

Couples Counselling

The fee for couples counselling is $225 per clinical hour.

Services FAQs

  • We accept Visa, MasterCard, Interac and cash.

    We don’t charge any additional fees (e.g. credit card processing fees).

  • Because psychologists work in the field of health, there are no GST/HST charges.

  • In Nova Scotia, the fees for psychologists are not covered by your general health plan (i.e. the MSI card you use when you visit a physician). However, if you have private insurance, insurance from your workplace, or you are being supported by another agency, the fees for our psychologists fees may be covered.

  • Depending on what is allowed by your policy provided (e.g. Blue Cross, Canada Life), we may be able to offer direct billing for therapy.

    If we are not able to direct bill, our psychologists are all registered with the major insurance providers and our clients report that reimbursement is very fast and straightforward.

    Please check with your insurance provider about your specific coverage for psychological services.

  • Yes. Fees for therapy or assessment at our office can be claimed as a medical expense when you file your taxes. Save your receipts!
